Instructions

Pouch

Start with orange yarn:

R1: MR, 6 sc (6)
R2: 6 inc (12)
R3: (sc, inc) x 6 (18)
R4: (2 sc, inc) x 6 (24)
R5: (3 sc, inc) x 6 (30)
R6: (4 sc, inc) x 6 (36)
R7 – R11: 36 sc (5 rounds)
R12: (4 sc, dec) x 6 (30)
R13 – R15: 30 sc ( 3 rounds)
R16: (3 sc, dec) x 6 (24)
R17: 24 sc

Change to brown yarn to represent the stem:

R18: 24 sc
R19: (3 sc, inc) x 6 (30)
R20: (4 sc, inc) x 6 (36)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

String/Leaf

Insert green yarn into a yarn needle.
Insert the needle down a stitch on R18. This will be referred to as side A. Skip a stitch, and insert the needle up through the next stitch. Repeat until you go around the entire R18.
Once you reach the end of R18 (which will be referred to as side B), reinsert the needle back into the last stitch from the opposite direction. Make sure to leave a 1-2 inch loop sticking out.
Make your way back around R18 until you reach the first stitch you started side A with.
Flatten the pouch. Make sure you still have your 1-2 inch loop on side B. Make a knot to secure the loop. Your leaf will need to fit through here, so don’t make it too small.
Make a knot with the two pieces of yarn on side A. Do not cut the yarn yet.
Chain 7 on side A and work the following steps down the chain: skip 1, sc 1, hdc 1, dc 2, hdc 1, sc 1, ch 1. Now work on the other side of the same chain: sc 1, hdc 1, dc 2, sc 1, slst. Fasten off and weave in ends.
