Abbreviations
- R = round
- MR = magic ring
- slst = slip stitch
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet
- tc = treble crochet
- inc = increase
- dec = decrease
- BLO = back loop only
- bold = use black yarn (this is only used during the Body instructions)
- sk = skip
- FO = fasten off

Instructions
This pattern uses US terms and is done in continuous rounds.
Limbs
Using black chenille yarn:
R1: MR, 6 sc
R2-3: 6 sc (2 rounds)
Hold the opening flat and close it with 3 sc through both sides. FO. Repeat 3 more times, so you have a total of 4 limbs. Set aside to crochet into the body later.
Body
Using yellow yarn:
R1: MR, 6 sc
R2: inc x 6 (12)
R3: (sc, inc) x 6 (18)
R4: sc, inc, (2sc, inc) x 5, sc (24)
R5: (3sc, inc) x 6 (30)
R6: 2 sc, inc, (4sc, inc) x 5, 2 sc (36)
R7-12: 36 sc (6 rounds)
Place 18mm eyes between R7 & R8, 6-8 stitches apart.
R13: Change to black yarn, 12 sc, join one limb with 3 sc, 6 sc, join the second limb with 3 sc, 12 sc (36) During this round, ensure the limbs are aligned with the eyes. If the stitch placement does not align them correctly, adjust the stitches as needed.
R14: Change to yellow yarn, 36 sc
R15: Change to black yarn, 36 sc
R16: Change to yellow yarn, 36 sc
R17: Change to black yarn, 12 sc, join one limb with 3 sc, 6 sc, join the second limb with 3 sc, 12 sc (36) During this round, ensure the limbs are aligned with the eyes. If the stitch placement does not align them correctly, adjust the stitches as needed.
R18: Change to yellow yarn, 2 sc, dec, (4 sc, dec) x 5, 2 sc (30)
R19: Change to black yarn, (3 sc, dec) x 6 (24)
Start to stuff the body.
R20: Change to yellow yarn, sc, dec, (2 sc, dec) x 5, sc (18)
R21: Change to black yarn, (sc, dec) x 6 (12)
Finish stuffing the body.
FO. weave in ends.
Use black acrylic yarn to embroider mouth.
Use pink acrylic yarn to embroider cheeks.
Antenna
Attach black chenille yarn between R3–R5 of the body, aligned with the eye.
Ch 5, skip the first chain, hdc 4 back down the chain, then slst into the body.
Repeat on the opposite side, aligned with the other eye, to create a second antenna.
If you would like sturdier antenna, you could do the following steps instead:
R1: MR, 5 sc
R2: 3 sc, dec (4)
R3-5: 4 sc (3 rounds)
Fasten off. Leave a tail for sewing. Repeat one more time to make a total of 2 antenna.
Sew each antenna between the body’s R3-5, aligned with each eye.
Wings
Using white yarn: ch 5, sk 3 stitches, [tc 3] into one stitch, ch 3, slst into the next stitch.
Fasten off. Leave long tail. Repeat these steps to make a second wing.
Sew each wing side by side to the back of the body between R10-12 aligned between both antenna.
Weave in ends.
Heart
Using red yarn:
R1: MR, 5 sc
R2: inc x 5 (10)
R3: (sc, inc) x 5 (15)
R4: 15 sc
Fasten off. Repeat R1-4 to make a second heart top, but do not fasten off. Join both pieces with 3 slst.


R5: 24 sc
R6: 2 sc, dec, (4 sc, dec) x 3, 2 sc (20)
R7: (3 sc, dec) x 4 (16)
R8: sc, dec, (2 sc, dec) x 3, sc (12)
Stuff lightly.
R9: (sc, dec) x 4 (8)
R10: dec x 4 (4)
Fasten off. Cut a piece of red yarn and use it to sew the heart to the top two limbs.
